Pure magic....

New Year's Resolutions

As you will have noticed I am not good keeping up with lists and decisions I make. Want to blame it on  being a Libra or just getting cared away with new things i discover through the internet, who can actually tell... (not even me!!) So this year I thought seriously what I wanted for this year.. What I wanted to do with my life and what was the best way to achieve it. Making a list for the hole year is not my kind of thing and having different things to do i decided to do a quarterly list. So this is my list of things i want to work towards to for the first four months of 2012

1. Get prepared for the ICS Exams in April ( i got 3 subjects to study and writing alot of essays for practice for the exams)
2. Study 3 days a week piano
3. Eat healthily and exercise 2 days a week
4. Learn more about blog desing ( I totally suck!!!!)
5. Read 10 books
6. Make a money management plan and keep it
7. Eat only home cooked meals 5 days a week by me :)
8. Write the draft for the music fairytale I have in mind for so long...

I thought that taking the 'small steps' towards big goals is best for me. I found out that if i go for the big one at once and don't make it I get disappointed and stop trying. The ICS exams is a big deal for me. Last year i didn't attend the exams because of my eyes problem. They were kind enough to transfer the exam fees this year. I attended this seminar for my day job and even though I found it very interesting it was really difficult for me to study for it. So I decided I want to get it done. I have another 3 subject to give exams for and another 3 years to give them. But I want to finish as soon as possible!!! That's why the first 4 months of this year will be studying for the exams. I have to search the net for instructions on how to write an essay because here in Greece we do not have this kind of writing style. So wish me luck! Studying piano is a must! If I want to get ready for my Diploma and work full time in this area. As for the eating healthy and exercises... a long, sad story that i never get to start... So 2 days a week are really very manageable even for me!

Things i've been up to lately

I found many, many posts on fabric painting and i got so inspired that I wanted to try it out... I haven't decised what I will make with the fabrics i painted. I painted this with t-shirt markers. I'll try and experiment with paints.
I found this here and I thought it will be perfect for my sister's handmade gift !!! I put it in a frame and got some dark green ribbon to contruste the red backround. She has the original poster and likes this quote so much. As you can see I didn't take a picture of the finished one...
The store I buy supplies from gave me this sweet little 2012 Hallmark planner. I love it!!
Making wreaths out of pasta for the Christmas Bazaar E.V.A.T.
This little brouche is a gift for my best friend's little girls. Mirto got a pink one and Irene got a purple one. The little felt flowers are an inspiration for here.  I actually sew the little flower and only glued the base and the beads :))The rest I put together from felt scraps and beads I allready had at home. Again I forgot to take a picture when they were finished... silly me!! i know

I found this beautiful tea cup candles  and tried to make some on my own. Unfortunatly I don't have beautiful chinas so I tried to make the next best thing (cute little christmas cups and the IKEA kind's tea set)! I made this for the Dog shelter bazaar's. I think I need to make regular visits at Monastiraki second hand bazaar's every Sunday. My sis and mom loved them!

p.s.: I didn't make an DIY tutorials you can find plainty and very explanatory on the internet :)
p.p.s: i find it a bit hard to keep up daily post especially for this blog. i want this blog to be about new things i try and goals i work towads...
Hope to see you again soon
Kisses
Sophia

Thursday la la la 3

Time for some music...a friend recommended this piece and i've been addicted to it for sometime.

Christmas and more

I've been pretty busy... I am going crafty for my christmas gifts this year (or i am going to try...) and i am trying to make a small list of who gets what...
 So here goes!
Kiddys
personnalized bag (i am experimenting with fabric painting :) and haven't decided on the size yet)
gingerbread cookies
tree ornaments (i am thinking a tradition here each year. I read about this in several blogs and found it soooo cute. I'll love to think that my friends kids in the years to come will have all this special christmas ornaments!)
and for the girls felt flower hair pins and for the boy a  bow tie.
and books ( i am the nerdy friend who brings books to kids...)

Grown Ups
personnalized bag
felt pins
homemade scrubs
and their favourite sweets :P

In other news as you can see from the photos  I have decorated the house for christmas. I am not going big this year. I am going to slowly decide what i'll have for christmas decoration. There soooo many things I like out there and the flat is small...The last christmas bazaar i am attending is this weekend and after that i am freee i tell you!! My flat is in desperate need of a little loving...with all the things going on in my life i have neglected it. Taking a break is a good think for me. Living in it made me realise what i need. So some serious decoration and rennovation is on the way! I'll try to post the gifts i make along with the posts that inspired me...
oooo my! this is a long one!!!
Have a lovely week
Sophia

paper tree lamp from IKEA (needs something i know)
Snowflakes on my window!!! ( I got curtins now and this looks even better i tell ya) (I live in Athens sooo real snowflakes not going to happen for me... fakes have to do!)

Thursday la la la 2

This is prelude and fugue i've been studying... (actually trying to...) It's so beautiful!!! so peacefull... love it!

Trying to make snow globes :)

I found this post the other day and thought what a great idea!!!! i love snow globes but  the designs that are out there are not my style.  Here in Greece you can find mostly christmas themed. So how about trying to make my own!!!
The first attempt was a failure because i hadn't put enough water and the glitter stayed all in the surface. Then i read in another post that you need to put glycerin.
After that I found a blog post that I can make a snow globe without water... (even better)
This is my first attempt and love the chess pieces idea... I think i am going to do this bigger and try the no water post...

Note to self: Always write down the blog post... i tend to  forget...

I love that the jar is black...Gives it an  edge... Hmmmm i have some Corpse Bride small plastic figurines.... That would make one snazzy little snow globe!

Unbelievable!!!! Thursday la la la

I just realized...this blog is named sophie's (me :D ) little music box...and i have never actually posted any music! So I Sophia officially claim this day as Thursday la la la.... I'll post every Thursday some of my favourite music... Let the music begin!!!
