E.V.A.T. Bazaar 2013

We had a great time.
We got together with old friends!
Until next year we meet again!

Drop the mask!

I was out shopping and found this amazing chevalier ring.
It was love at first sight.

I love chevalier rings and are the only rings I can actually wear.
After long years of playing the piano I find it difficult to wear rings and have really long nails...
Yeap, I know it's weird.

My sister found this little jewellery shop Esthete in Pireaus, owned by two amazing people (brother and sister).
They have very unique jewellery and are very passionate about their work.
You can also find them on facebook.

And a DIY for inspiration for the weekend!

Bazaar

Some years now, I've been helping with my mum and my sister at a local Christmas bazaar.
All the money go to charity.
We make various hand crafts and bake sweets. This year I also made the poster for the event.
I chose a sketch from a Greek painter Nick Υialouris.
I found the sketch at the Chios Municipality Library
They, actually, have quite a collection of his work.
Feel free to check them out! The poster is in Greek sooo you probably want understand a thing...

I also made this little card based on the design of the painting. It will go with all the little things we have prepared. It wishes a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I hope everyone will likes it!!!

Artist: Su Blackwell
This work of Mrs. Blackwell speaks to my soul. I don't know how to describe it.... but there so many images and thoughts crossing my mind when I see this picture. So many feelings...I fell like I can get lost in this picture! I hope some day I get to see some of her work in person.

DIY to the test

For a long time now I have searched the internet and pinterest for various DIY.  I usually look for something to make for my flat, myself or taking inspiration for the various charities we are involved as a family.
This post is about making the diy and the result I got....

First this wonderful pair of cat shoes! I've been thinking to buy a pair but the ones I liked were really expensive until I found this diy and fell in love!

From KITTENHOOD.Guest Post from Scathingly Brilliant

I found this DIY very easy and the result was amazing. I used a pair from H&M because I wasn't sure of the result and didn't want to ruin an expensive pair. I am definitely  doing this again in a more comfortable pair! So here goes...

Forgive my amateurish photos :)

I used dark red because I didn't have black. I loved the result and I got a lot of compliments for this lovelies...Everybody asked where I bought them and I was so proud to say I made them!
Definitely give this diy a try!

Easter at Chios

Now that I have finished with my bookshelves and everything is in place. I realized that more than half the books I own I haven't read yet. I love going to bookstores and looking around and always I bring something back with me. But the past year I haven't read much. I don't know maybe I needed a break.... I love reading especially fiction. I love loosing myself at the imaginary world of the book and sympathizing with the main character... So this year I have decided to read more. I have set a minimum goal for myself. Two books a month. January I actually read 2 books ( the second one was really small but it counts!) and started a third one.
Happy February !

Silly Wednesday # 1

p.s.: seriously this photo cracks me up every single time...

Coffee coffee coffee

Coffee mmmm coffee! I love it in the morning....coffee flavored ice cream... in cakes...in everything! But most of all I love to drink coffee. As much I have tried to follow other on green tea drinking I can not...especially in the morning! I have to have coffee or else my day hasn't started. I think that this says it all.
After working for a short period of time  at Starbucks here in Athens and after years of trying different kinds. I can finally say I have find my coffee. It is definitely cold! Here in Athens, Greece most of the year is sunny and warm. And we have a tradition in drinking "frape". Frape is instant coffee, water shaken with sugar or  milk (according to your preferences). The trick is to shake it very  very well until the coffee makes foam. If you have traveled to Greece you will most probably seen and drink "frape".
But over the years I have found that 'frape' doesn't agree with me and sometimes upsets my stomach. So in search of other cold coffee beverage I found that cold espresso shots works better for me. Starbucks double shot...heaven!!!! Even though I have found what tastes best for me I always like to try new things.
When I found this recipe  I had to tried it out.
Thanks to "The Pioneer Woman" I now have a new favorite coffee to drink during the weekend...I love how the coffee holds its strength even when the ice melts!
IKEA Godis

See even the ice has melted the coffee keeps its colour and strong taste.
I drink my coffee black and add only some sweetener or if I am in the mood I add some splash of caramel syrup. I do hope you give this recipe a try! It's very easy to make and the result will totally reward you!
That's enough coffee talk for one day....
Lots of love

Organitation #1

Having moved to the new apartment. I find myself wanting to have everything in order.. Am I becoming a little obsessed here??? I don't think so actually. Since moving on my own, I have started to experiment with crafts. I love to try out new things and then deciding what I like best making. The problem with this is that I have a lot of craft supplies. I want to be able to use the supplies as much as possible and at the same time to be able to put it away fast if anyone  visits. That's the problem with having a small apartment and my entrance serves as  dining room/ office/ crafting table ... I really love how this place is coming together and I don't want to open closets and see chaos!
So I will be documenting this little trip to orderly drawers and closets and apartment!  I have found inspiration in pinterest, other blogs and various sites. So let's start!

I found this little baby while I was at the hardware store looking for some tools. I thought it will be perfect for my jewellery supplies. I definitely needed to do something about this mess...
Whenever I wanted something I had to empty this two out!

But now everything is in order. I love how I can separate own little drawer in two. And don't let it foul you. This sucker has plenty of space. I am not sure about the orange. I think I'll be  revamping it a bit...but I haven't decided yet. This will probably  be another post..

P.S.: This lovely little cosmetic bag I bought from Claire's. It was love at first sight. I use it to carry with me whatever project I am working on at the time.

I will be sharing many other little tricks I use around the flat. Hope you find them useful. What do you do to keep things tidy and functional around the flat?

Lots of  love,
Sophia

Movie Mania #1

This year I have decided to go to the movies more. I'm leaving really close to allot of movie theaters and I have rarely been in 2012. A wake up  call from my eye doctor made me realize I need to enjoy more movies just in case.... So welcome to the first post of a series about the movies I see. This will not be about criticizing the movie just the movies I see and how much I enjoyed them. Drum rolls please...

The first on is Argo
More on the movie and photos here
I saw the movie just this afternoon. Loved it! Especially the airport scene I was holding my seat so tight!!! Nerve wrecking!!! If anyone else seen it I will be happy to read your opinion.
Lots of love
Sophia.

Making resolutions...

 "A man is but
the product
of his thoughts
   what he thinks
 he becomes."
           Gandhi

When I first wrote down my list of resolutions as you saw the first thing I wrote down is that I want to loose weight and exercise more. That's been in the resolutions list for many years now and actually never gets crossed out. Over the years I have  become a couch potato  and taken it at a whole new level!!!! Unfortunately this year I have actually have to do something about this because of a health issue. Yes, I am one of those people that something like health issues has to come up to start taking a little better care of myself.
My first thought was WRITE it down on a list to keep yourself accountable.  As I thought this better and days passed by I crossed them out of my list. I want this change to come gradually over a period of many years. I don't want to pressure myself because when I do this I always fail and I can't afford to this time. I have tried two-three times to lose weight with the help of specialists and I have succeeded but the problem is I never keep of the weight. Story of my life you say....mine too!
My idea is to change the way I take care of myself in general. Visit regularly a doctor for the necessary exams for my age. Visit the dentist! Try to change the way I see myself. Put a little positive attitude,a lot of love and understanding So no worries this is not going to be a weight lose blog! Just a self-loving and changing for the better blog. Not the outside but the inside!!! Where it actually counts!
I am very thankfull that I have found in blogland so many inspiring women to show me the way.
Lots of love to you all
Sophia

13 for 2013

Every January I get a blog fever. The new year always fills me with  new ideas and promises of keeping this blog up and running...and then somewhere between March and April I only come around to 10 posts. After reading all your posts about new beginnings and year's resolution I have decided I want to give this blog thing another try. But this time without the pressure I put myself about everyday posting and trying to write posts that will blow other people minds. I want this space to become more of a small diary of the things I will do this year. I want to be able to come back here and read about the big and the small changes in my life. I will be giving this place a renovation as the year passes... I already made a big change in the name of the blog and a bit of an update on the template. I am in a place right now that I love all things simple with a hint of color.
So the best way to start is with this year's resolutions. I started writing them down on my notebook and at 13 I stopped. I thought why overwhelm myself with 30 resolutions??? I'll probably won't  do half of them. Why not make a shorter list and enjoy more of repeating some of my resolutions. Why not try to perfect some of them??
With no further delay here is my list

1. Lose weight  Go to the movies more
2. Exercise more  Travel
3. Complete the 365 projects
4. Learn to crochet
5. Get a license to ride a motorcycle
6. Be dept-free
7. Experiment with art mediums
8. Learn how to use Adobe Photoshop
9. Make new friends
10. Start an Etsy Shop
11. Read all the books I have at my closet and they are gathering dust...
12. Go for pick-nicks
13.Finish decorating the flat

I have crossed and changed some of my goals. I will talk and explain more  about my list in another post.
I am happy to be back here and write... I hope this time I will keep it up!
Should this be a years resolution??? Hmmm...
Love to you all
Sophia.
